We are frequently asked if we are able to provide shared and reseller hosting accounts that are on servers located in the UK. (All current shared and reseller accounts are hosted on servers in the US)
Our answer has always been no.
This is mainly due to the greater cost it would take us to run the servers.
However, due to the increase of requests recently, we thought we'd take it a step further and see what interest, if any, there would be for this service from our existing Client base. We've created a quick survey, and would be delighted if you could spare 30 seconds to fill it out!
However, before you do that, let me just give you a quick overview of the main benefits of a UK based hosting account.
Speed!
The most obvious benefit is speed, if you (or the visitors to your site) live in the UK or Europe, then the access time to the server would be significantly higher than the access time to a US server. We are still talking in milliseconds, but you can tell the difference.
If you'd like a couple of sample IP's from which to test this out, please open a support ticket and we'll provide some test IP's from both countries for you to compare.
SEO
It's something that a lot of people overlook, but it's quite a major consideration.
If you run a website, be it personal or business, that is aimed at the UK market, you are much more likely to achieve a better ranking in Google if the geographical location of the server is in the UK.
You can check this out by searching on Google.co.uk for something along the lines of:
wellies free delivery
If you then check out the domain names that come up on the first page of the Google results using the Network Tools Express search, you'll be able to see the geographical location of all of the top sites is the UK.
You can search again for something like:
plumbers in sheffield
And you'll see that this time we have a lot of local business results from Google that appear, if you do the Network Tools search on a few of the domains, you should find that the sites hosted in the UK achieve a higher listing than those hosted in the US.
So if you currently host a site that targets the UK market on a US server, you may well find that a simple server move would increase your, or your clients search engine rankings.
This is also confirmed by Google in the following video:
This of course works in reverse, so if you are targeting the US market, then you would generally have more success having your site on a US based server.
So in an ideal world, you'd have any sites aimed at the UK audience on a UK based server, and any sites aimed at the US audience on a US based server.
The Survey
Now that you've had a brief overview of the potential benefits of a UK server, we'd be very pleased if you could spare 30 seconds to complete the survey below:

D9. The best host i have used,if ever i have had a problem or needed and advice i always get a prompt reply.I am very satisfied and could not find a better service.
I can't believe the quality of service, I receive from d9. It's exceptional. Whenever I've needed help I've had prompt service, it can be within minutes! Thank you so much!
Thanks, David and Alan, for your very kind words. We're delighted that you're happy with our Service :-)
I've had great help with my website from d9s Techs, and all of the problems that I had, I have caused due to lack of knowledge on my part. That being said, can you recommend a webmaster, to help me on my site as its placement on Google has degraded from #2 to #12 in the past three days.I'm sure there are plenty on E-Lance, and Guru, and I am taking classes on programing, and HTML, But this looks like a long learning curve. My most recent problem I caused as I was trying to set up my AWeber opt in when I did a no, no. I only ask for help when I absolutely need it so if you have anyone In mind for a small job or an Idea that would help my dilemma please let me know, Thanks. Sincerely, Thomas Lang
Thomas, you suggested yourself what we would have suggested to you, i.e. Get together a specification of what work you would like done and post your job on scriptlance or elance. You will receive lots of bids on your job and you can take a look at who you would like to do the work for you. Both Dan and I have used both of these sites in the past and have been very pleased with work done for us.
People have told me not to get my domain and then let that company do my hosting. Well, that is not the case with D9. Like everyone attests, the service is exemplary, gracious and far exceeds other providers. I would love to look into a UK based hosting. BTW, there was no video in this post. As for Thomas, I can wholeheartedly recommend Sean Mitchell. Yu can check out an interview with him on Maria Gudelis' site: www.mariagudelisnews.com/page/3 Sean's interview is about 3/4 of the way down the page, or you can use Maria Gudelis to get more contact information.
The best thing I ever did was move to D9 Hosting. The support is "out of the top drawer" - prompt, excellent and quality. No problem is too big or too small. Everything is dealt with quickly and effeciently. Paula and Dan always go the extra mile.
I too would like to add my appreciation for the help given by Dan and Paula. Being completely new to this experience I needed a lot of help recently and Dan and Paula were there with help and advice which actually amounted to teaching. I would have no hesitation in recomending D9 Solutions to anybody.
I agree with all of the comments above and would like to add that Dan once sent me an email pointing out that my cloaked affiliate link was taking people to the wrong page, he also included links and instructions on how i correct it. When ever i have had any concerns, and there's been a few, either Paula or Dan have come back to me and solved all my concerns. Not only on d9, I've followed both of you for sometime now and you have always been a big help on all the forums. You're the ONLY hosting service that i recommend, (now that Dan help me send them in the right direction).
I agree 100% with all the above. I am a newbie & have not used any other hosting before so I have no comparisons, all I know is I am satisfied enough not to bother looking elsewhere. The more I learn, the more I love it! My dream is to replace or surpass my current income, through affiliate marketing. I would appreciate any input or advice if anyone would like to visit my website, I'm hungry for constructive criticism. I do have one question, when we publish a website, is it automatically submitted to the search engines? Also, is every website required to have all that legal, privacy policy type stuff & if so, how do you get it on there. I couldn't find any info. on this. Thank You Dan & Paula, you guys rock! My website is www.stringstrummers.com Have A Great Day!, Mike Dowell
Another big thumbs up for the amazing D9 customer support! We have recently been looking around for UK hosting for some of our sites, but knowing that it might be on the way from D9 I think we'll hang fire now. We've been too spoilt by Dan & Paula to sign up for any lesser service :-)
The service level at D9 Customer Support is absolutely exemplary. Nothing is too much trouble, the response is quick and the advice always spot on. We feel absolutely confident with our reseller account knowing it is in good hands. Many thanks always

It's nice to know that we're on the right track with our Clients :-) @Mike, I think I answered your query about the search engines and legal requirements blurb on websites on Live Support -- hope it helped but send us a ticket if you need any further help
